Valerie Sloby
Born in Montreal (1960), Valerie Sloby is a Canadian visual artist. Her work has garnered international attention in public, corporate, and private collections. Capturing inspiration from the earth around us in every way – from people to the land and sky, she focuses on trying to ‘re-imagine’ the fragmented ‘re collection’ of childhood memories. Sloby vividly captures her memories and enjoys capturing and customizing memories for people who want to immortalize an image, an experience, a person in a history of their time. Valerie’s works deal often deal with various political and social themes touching on disempowerment, despair, and alienation.
Drawing and painting since the age of seven, Valerie has formal art training in oils in addition to a Master of Arts degree in the exploration of existentialism and logical paradoxes. Valerie has a wide range of prolific work in series ranging from male hysteria, social (in)justices, and social interactions in a busy media world.
